The bad weather we've had all summer finally started to let up just in time for Autumn and the LAC meet.
Nine senior teams and two intermediate turned out for the competition this year.
The first round we had an issue with low cloud, so that got judged on accuracy only.
Combining the lowest scores for accuracy, (distance landing from the “ten pence”) and the quickest time to launch the 4 way random formation -
Senior team “Why Us” reclaimed the shield after losing to “Gate Crashers” back in 2005 and also
marginally beat team “Easy Spider” who took second. Gate Crashers took third position this year.
Jane Buckle again picked up Senior Individual Gold, with a score of 24cm - this year Pete Sizer zapped with a 7 metre landing and Dave Hartley joined Ken Gregory to land medals.

Sept 2006 - HPC Launch & Accuracy Competition. |
Due to the weather, not a lot happened this year and there wasn't anywhere near the regular turn out as most people binned it for the weekend - a two lift cycle in the Turbolet would be used for each round.
Having nearly completed round one on Saturday, we sacked it at 2pm on Sunday - all that was needed was for one of the teams waiting for their re-jump to withdraw in order for the competition to be called.
Jane Buckle picked up Senior Individual Gold with a score of 1cm and “I can't believe it's not Lard” took the Team Senior Gold.

Anyway, boys will be boys, (or girls will be girls) and skydivers aint going to let something like the weather stop us having fun -
Keith Stock got one of his toys out and we all had a go on his bike. I decided to go and get the telephoto lens...

Headcorn Parachute Club - Annual Launch & Accuracy Competition. |

If you think, there’s a lot that the club does for us – HPC holds the LAC competition each year in September.
Run by staff and Headcorn veterans like Dave Crowhurst the weekend event is totally dedicated to social parachuting.
The entire club closes for commercial jumping and moves out to the landing area where we sit around in the sun all day
watching jumpers trying to get into the pit without getting hurt.
This is one of the best social events in the UK for parachutists.
The game is – Find 3 mates to make a 4 way team.
For each round you get given an exit that you have to do and you get timed from the moment you leave the aircraft
until the moment they see the formation intact.
There are 4 rounds, the exit is at 5500 feet and you’re judged from the ground.
Then you have to land one at a time as accurately in the centre of the pit as you can – sometimes this can be very entertaining.
Scores are added up and combined for each team, but it’s also the individual scores that count.
It’s also handicapped according to skill which makes it easy for anyone to enter.
And when the jumping’s over the party begins….
